The Hunger Games Fireside Chat is back!

And with that in mind, can you believe Mockingjay: Part 2 is just five months away? Neither can we. To all our old fans and future listeners, please join us as we do another one of our “famous” second-by-second, obsessive breakdowns of the new Mockingjay Part 2 trailer.

Episode 137 will air live this Tuesday, June 16, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include Theresa and Ellie from Down with the Capitol, Kait from Victor’s Village and The Fandom, the illustrious Courtney and Tiffany from Welcome to District 12, Jessi from The Fandom, Ariel from Nerdy, Wordy, and Over Thirty, our dear friend Natalie from Tor.com, and the recently married Joan of Ireland!

We are also extremely excited to welcome back, in what has been a long-awaited return, the composer of the Fireside Chat theme and indisputable backbone of the early Hunger Games fandom, Sam Cushion!

The topic, as you might expect, is the Mockingjay: Part 2 trailer. If you liked Trailer Bashes 1-5, we know you’ll love Trailer Bash 6!

In addition, we will talk/come to grips with the end of shooting, reflecting on what an extraordinary franchise this has become and how wonderful it has been to be part of this fandom. How could we not be touched by the tweets from Nina Jacobson and Francis Lawrence? This has been our journey almost as much as it has been theirs, and we hope you jump on board for the final stretch.

We are absolutely salivating to know what YOU think about the new trailer, so please leave a comment in the section below!

Also, how do you feel about the filming being over? Comment on that as well!

You can chat with other listeners throughout the live show by using our hashtag #HGFiresideChat on Twitter! We recommend TweetChat to easily follow along with the conversation.

First of all, I’m glad to see that y’all are back. I missed this show.

The trailer, as always, was amazing, though I’m a bit disappointed that they gave away so much of the movie compared to the trailer for the previous installments. I like that we get to see Annie, and the booby traps look really interesting. The dancing scene, though, left me in tears. I will not be able to handle witnessing Prim’s fate. It’s too much.

Finishing up the filming makes me sad. Our fandom has come so far–I still remember when the first stills were released for the movie all those years ago, back when it felt like everyone in the fandom new each other and we were all worried that no one would see the first movie! (Ha ha ha, hindsight is hilarious.) It seems like our fandom is starting to wind down. Fan sites are closing, new people are taking over the spotlight, people are moving on, and news will eventually start to become scarce. What ever happens after this movie, though, I’m glad we had these times. I never stop going to fansites, hoping for another episode of this show, or forget the incredible friends I’ve made because of all this.

I hope the odds remain in your favor,

    –Ush.

    Hi Ya’ll!!!

So I was crying before the trailer had even surfaced on the interweb. It was such an emotional time for me because it was so bittersweet. It was our Last first trailer and that broke my little Tribute heart. I literally started to hyperventilate at the site of Finnick and it only deepened with the glimpses of Katniss and Prim together. Knowing how this movie is going to pan out made my heart tighten, I literally had a sharp chest pain. I know that all sounds so extreme, but this franchise owns property on my soul and I think there will be some demolition come movie day. I loved that we got to see some interaction between Katniss and Peeta, and I loved seeing Squad 451 in action. This movie is going to be a rollercoaster like none other. The only thing I wish would not have been added was all the people in the Capitol forming behind Katniss as she walks down the Tributes Chariot Isle. I say this because I feel like it gives some of the story away, but who knows I could be wrong.
After watching this trailer I was complete emotional wreck, I cried enough tears to fill a pool for a whale. My moms best friend actually called and my mom was not home so I spent ten minutes crying on the phone to her and she just wanted to talk to my mom. I give a large round of applause to Francis Lawrence and Nina Jacobson as well as the cast crew because just what I have seen from this trailer is everything I wanted.

Also, side note, thank you for making a comeback. This show has been a highlight in my time in this fandom. I have been here for 120+ episodes and there has never been one that I did not enjoy. I just want to thank Adam and Savanna for putting this show together over the years and to all the admins on the various fansites because this fandom would not be the same without any of you!

    Much Love,
    Annie

  • The trailer was great I loved that they opened it up with the wedding and how glimpses of it played through out. It was like little bits of hope throughout scenes of of war that dominate most of the story.

I was surprised they showed Peeta hugging Katniss, however! I was like no!! The people who haven’t read the books are supposed to suffer and feel what us readers did as we read about Peeta’s hijacking.

I am so excited for this movie but at the same time sad. I can’t believe we are at this point. It has been a wild ride with this fandom! I know this chapter will finish strong and that the movie will be amazing.

Thank you Hunger Games Fireside Chat for all that you have done for the fandom. This podcast has made it more fun and exciting for me. I have loved listening to all of your episodes and appreciate the time you take to put this on! Thank you so much!!
