Episode 115 of Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live this Monday, July 15, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include Shylah from Down with the Capitol, Kait and Rebekah from Victor’s Village and Ariel of Nerdy, Wordy, and Over Thirty.

Want to know what we’ve planned?

– We’ll talk about Lionsgate’s new partnership with Subway and whether or not we support it, given the content of the Hunger Games trilogy. Let us know what you think about this partnership by leaving a comment below. We’ll read as many comments as we can during the show!

– We’ll also discuss and analyze the brand new still released in Entertainment Weekly’s Comic-Con 2013 preview issue! This new image has given us our very first glimpse of some of the other victors in-character, which is quite exciting. There has been a bit of confusion over who is who in the new still. We’ve labeled it, as you can see below, but no one is certain if the woman to the right of Blight is Johanna or Cecelia. We’re fairly certain it’s Cecelia…but then why is Johanna missing? If you have any thoughts to share, you know what to do! 😉

– And lastly, we’ll discuss the OTHER new still which was released exclusively at Yahoo! today. Thoughts on Katniss and Peeta’s costumes? What about Effie’s butterfly dress?

You can chat with other listeners throughout the live show by using our hashtag #HGFiresideChat on Twitter! We recommend TweetChat to easily follow along with the conversation.

  • You didn’t label the District 9 male (the tall guy seen to the right of Caesar, standing next to the District 10 female).

The woman is definitely Cecelia. It can’t be Johanna because 1) This woman is quite tall. Jena Malone is 5’5″ (165 cm). Elena Sanchez (Cecelia) is 5’8 (173 cm). 2) I think Johanna’s interview dress is the dress she wore in her Capitol portrait – since Katniss, Finnick and Beetee are all wearing the outfits they had in the Capitol portraits. And 3) all the female Victors are standing to the left of their male District partner, just like in the book.

There have been some interesting theories about Johanna’s absence, for instance that she caused a scene in her interview and was escorted offstage.

    • Savanna says:

Hey TTB! I actually did label the D9 male. It’s just under him. I did, however, forget to label Beetee…no idea how that happened as he’s one of my favorites! 🙁

  • Scottsdale says:

I like the theory that Johanna blurts out something obscene during her interview and is taken off the stage by some Peacekeepers. Though not directly from the book, this would be an effective way of getting across to the audience exactly who her character is.

  • Rachel says:

I love Francis Lawrence. I really do. This still of the interviews is pretty much an exact carbon copy of how I pictured the interviews in my mind when I read THG and CF. Having the tributes stand in rows above the stage and the big screen behind them flashing the district number reminds me of some sort of reality show instead of some brutal competition where innocent and frail adults get murdered, which is exactly what Suzanne Collins was going for. How the interviews played out in the first movie reminded me too much of a late-night talk show (maybe it’s because the tributes were sitting down in chairs instead of standing?) instead the aforementioned reality show concept.

In any case, I applaud Francis Lawrence and the production team for their source-material attentive and detailed work here- I can’t wait to see it in the movie! 🙂

  • As with many, the biggest takeaway from the still was seeing the victors. I was a bit bummed when I saw that Johanna wasn’t standing next to Blight, But I lost it when I saw Enobaria. I love the possibility that Johanna said something out of line and got kicked off the stage. But considering the fact that Peeta is not seen either, maybe Johanna is somewhere with him backstage, though for what reason I don’t know.

  • I like the cause marketing aspect of the Subway promotion. It was absolutely necessary that they do that – any tie-in between a food brand and the Hunger Games has to be sensitive to the source material. And certainly the extensive Subway footprint across North America means a lot of people will be seeing the promotion.

The “TAKE PICTURES WITH OUR STANDEES” component made me laugh. But remembering all the fun people had with the Peeta standee last time, I bet people will be all over that. And it will be hilarious.

That being said, I hope Subway doesn’t go too overboard with this in store – be it signage, special cups, or special recipes. Katniss staring at me while I’m trying to eat is going to destroy my appetite. Oh, the guilt.

  • mse says:

I’m going to go with a boring theory here, and say that Johanna’s on the far left, and that’s why she’s not in the picture. Or even more likely she’s just there somewhere behind Katniss, because she’s Johanna Mason and she will not stand where you tell her to stand because F the rules. :p

Partnering up with Subway might would’ve seemed inappropriate but Lionsgate made a brilliant move by also collaborrating with a hunger charity organization. And this is standard marketing for blockbusters, so I think they’re going around it the smartest way possible.

  • Greg says:

That new still of the D12 Reaping has this depressing feel to it. The forlorn look on Katniss and Peeta’s faces; Effie’s distressed look; the empty reaping balls; it’s probably gonna be one of the more sadder scenes in the film.

  • I think both the stills are really amazing and their revealing more than I expected, the new reaping one is quite interesting since Katniss’s, Effie and Peeta’s expression all reflect that the situation they are currently dealing with is not pleasant and pleasing the Capitol is no longer in their agenda….. duh. And as always Effie looks freaking AMAZING covered in dead butterfly’s, assuming the Capitol is too high class for fake ones.

  • Addy says:

    PEETA BREAD
That’s all I have to say about the subway partnership. And as for the still I think it’s amazing! And maybe Johanna is behind Ceasar or Katniss like Peeta is. I am perfectly fine with Katniss not having long sleeves on her dress. I think it would look better if that thing on her dress extended into large wings! And if your gonna talk about the reaping still I LOVE Effie’s butterfly dress! Her style looks better and more capotalish. And I like the idea of Katniss and Peeta not dressing up for the reaping as a sign of rebellion.

  • Annie B says:

I think thats its so great the Lionsgate teamed up with subway to help raise money for feeding america. Its such a great cause that really does follow along with a large part of The Hunger Games. I think that its also a great marketing tactic, there making a new fun experience for fans as well as helping a great cause, it a win win.

I am also going to go along with the theory that Johanna being the rebel she is got herself kicked off stage, in all honesty it makes a lot of sense.

I love the still we got from yahoo today. I love the look on Peeta’s face. Josh knows how to direct emotion and he has done it so well in this shot. You can read every emotion rolling through Peeta, the fact that he know’s this time they arnt both coming back it amazing and beautiful.
