“SoCal Represent! TKC & SDCC”

Miss Episode 114 live last night? You can listen to the whole thing recorded by clicking here OR simply using the embedded player below.

Episode 114 of Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live this Monday, July 8, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include Kate from HungerGamesTrilogy.net, Rebekah from Victor’s Village, Amanda from HG Girl on Fire, and Courtney from Welcome to District 12!

– We’ll kick things off by chatting with the incredibly talented creators of The Katniss Chronicles about Part II of their unofficial audio drama adaptation of the series. If you have any questions you’d like us to ask the TKC crew, leave them in the comments below!

– We’ll spend the rest of the show discussing Catching Fire‘s presence at San Diego Comic-Con and make predictions about the second trailer. (You could also consider this the first trailer, since what we got back in April was technically a “teaser.”) If you have any trailer predictions, let us know in a comment!

You can chat with other listeners throughout the live show by using our hashtag #HGFiresideChat on Twitter! We recommend TweetChat to easily follow along with the conversation.

  • Prediction: the trailer will emotionally destroy me

  • Sarah says:

It’s kind of hard to tell, because we’re not sure if they’re keeping the new games a secret. Ideally I would like to see Finnick and the other victors, but I’m not sure how they could go about it without spoiling. I think that there will be some of the wedding stuff going on. And maybe president snows convince me if they choose to keep that.

    • They don’t have to reveal that Finnick and Johanna etc. will be the ones competing. Technically, Katniss, Peeta, Finnick, etc. could just be mentors to the young Tributes in the new Games, which is what Katniss assumed she would have to be, until the Quarter Quell was announced. If I were making the trailer, I’d show Snow start reading the card and cut off before the actual reveal, just showing Katniss’ shocked face.

Granted, some people will probably guess the twist even if they hadn’t had it spoiled in some of the many spoilery articles, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It all depends on whether you find the story good or not. Two opposite examples: I guessed the main twist in the Kevin Spacey movie The Life of David Gale halfway through, and I disliked the movie, but not because I guessed it, but because I thought it was a contrived story. In Game of Thrones, there is a secret that’s revealed in the second half of the book but which I guessed very early on, but it didn’t make me dislike the book or think “this is so predictable”, instead it made me feel satisfied that I had figured it out and was proven right.

I’m pretty sure we will see some of the tributes in the trailer. They may not be featured AS tributes, but maybe mentors? What *I* hope we get to see is more of Katniss and Peeta. Maybe they will show the struggle Katniss has with her feelings toward both Peeta and Gale. What I also would like to see in the trailer is Snow announcing the quarter quell, but without any spoilers of the plan. Maybe just before Snow announces what the quell will be, they may cut off from him and show Katniss’ reaction.
It may be very unlikely but I hope we get a little romance of Katniss and Peeta….a kiss maybe? Idk. As I said before it may be very unlikely to have that.

All I know is that whatever they give us we will be happy with it!:D

  • We can guess we wont see any tribute stuff because that would spoil it for people who dont know how to read AMAZING books, but more of the turmoil in the districts could be shown along with Katniss’s and the Capitols plan to deal with it. And maybe they could foreshadow whats going to happen by explaining what the Quarter Quell is. Whatever they put in the trailer Im sure will be enough to cause Fanboy and Fangirl attacks.

  • Annie B says:

I would love to see some revolution plotting involving Haymitch and the rest of the victors who are going to be part of the revolution. I think subtle hunts toward that would be amazing to see. I would also love to see some more district interaction during the victory tour. Honestly considering that they already released Katniss’ wedding dress, I can see them showing parts of the training center and the other victors. It seems that they are not really trying to hide things this time around as far a promotional things and trailers go. I do not believe that we will get to see the arena however, but I think there s a strong possibility of seeing the build up towards it.

  • Scottsdale says:

I think that they will spoil that Katniss is going back into the arena before November. To some, the movie might look too dry, and I think they’ll want to be able to show that there is garuntee action through the presence of more Games. I am fully convinced that they will show is Finnick and Johanna this time. But they’ll probably do what they did last time: show the tributes but not the games. I can envision snow announcing the Quell, some more scenes of the rebellion, but then a lot with the tributes in the interviews and training, and then ending with Katniss rising up on her pedestal surrounding by the crashing waves in the arena. That would be perfect!!
