Episode 104 of Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live this Monday, April 22, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include Courtney from Welcome to District 12, Kait and Rebekah from Victor’s Village, and Ariel from Nerdy, Wordy, and Over Thirty.

– We’ll kick off the show by discussing the latest news concerning the filming dates and locations for the two Mockingjay films (Atlanta? Boston? Los Angeles?).
– We’ll also chat about the stills released at The Hunger Games Explorer that were NOT featured in the teaser trailer: Katniss hugging Prim; Plutarch in Snow’s office.
– Next, we’ll share our thoughts on the possibility of Catching Fire footage being shown at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
– In celebration of the Catching Fire teaser trailer’s one-week anniversary, we’ll challenge our panelists and listeners with a round of Ridiculously Difficult Teaser Trailer Trivia!

You can chat with other listeners throughout the live show by using our hashtag #HGFiresideChat on Twitter! We recommend TweetChat to easily follow along with the conversation.

I don’t recall hearing y’all say this on the show, but did y’all notice the banner with Rue’s picture on it at 1:00 in the trailer? Look in the top right corner after the older man who started the three finger salute is being dragged up the stairs in the supposed District 11 (which confirms it is D11 due to Rue) just after Katniss is being pulled back. Just before he is forced to his knees, you can just see the banner with her precious innocent face on it. No wonder Katniss has such a sorrowful look in her eyes while she’s there.

I think Mockingjay starting production this December is fantastic! It will really distract us in waiting for Catching Fire over the summer due to all of the pre-production news and, of course, the casting. Who will play the cold and austere President Coin? The stoic yet sarcastic Boggs? Even minor characters like Leeg 1 and Leeg 2 will definitely get us excited as CF draws ever closer.

  • Maia says:

That is really cool, but a little sad it means it feels like it will be over soon. No more hunger games. I feel that way about Harry potter?

  • Annie B (@Anniepn23) says:

I love that there sticking to filming in Atlanta! It really keeps continuity. My biggest worry about catching fire is the possibly of District 12 looking noticeably different then the first movie, although I’m sure Francis Lawrence is trying as hard a possible to make it seem the same.

I think that the plans to start filming in December are a good idea. I think that after the Catching Fire release every one will be on a Hunger Games High and Lionsgate will be able to really start pushing marketing. I feel as though that even though we all cant wait to see catching fire and Mockingjay that maybe they’re moving things a little to fast. I think they should give us a little more time to digest everything so to speak. I want to Mockingjay as much as the next fan but the idea of the series coming to an end brings serious tears to my eyes and a ache to my heart.

I think that maybe a lot of the District 13 scenes will be shot in Boston. It would seem to make sense to me. I also pictured District 13 being somewhere up and around that area so I do suppose that, that is only a bonus!
