#62 Fireside Chat: Unscripted 2.0 Saturday 09 June, 2012

“Unscripted 2.0”

Miss Episode 62 live last night? No worries! Click here to listen to it recorded or use the embedded player below.

Episode 62 of Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live this Monday, June 11, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include Theresa and Shylah from Down with the Capitol, Kait from Victor’s Village, Courtney of Welcome to District 12, and Ariel of Nerdy, Wordy, and Almost Thirty!

Since we haven’t done an “Unscripted” episode since September of last year (to celebrate our 25th episode), we decided it was definitely time for another one!

Just like last time, we have no set plan or agenda in place for Episode 62 (aside from a discussion about the possibility of Philip Seymour Hoffman playing Plutarch Heavensbee)! We do, however, have a grab bag full of listener-submitted questions, discussion topics, Crackpot Theories, What Ifs?, Would You Rathers?, and Cave/Marry/Kills. We’ll choose topics from the grab bag (or “topic cornucopia”) at random and discuss, debate, and speculate!

Please feel free to leave comments here with suggested topics for us to add to the grab bag. Make sure to comment before Monday for a chance to hear your topic on the air!

Update: Below you’ll find a list of all the topics we pulled out of the grab bag!
– Crackpot Theory: Peeta was actually killed while in captivity, and the Peeta that was “rescued” and brought back to District 13 was a clone.
– What if Katniss had died in the Hunger Games and only Peeta survived? Do you think that Madge and Gale would have become a couple and that Peeta and Delly would have become a couple or do you think they would both have been too heartbroken to ever find love again? (submitted by Annie)
– What if there hadn’t been any nightlock (or other poisonous berries) in the arena?
– Who would YOU volunteer for in a real-life reaping?
– What is the weirdest Hunger Games-related thing you’ve ever seen or heard of?
– Who would have won the Third Quarter Quell if there had never been an alliance or if Katniss/Peeta/Finnick/etc. had never broken out of the arena? (submitted by Kelsey)
– Would you rather have Snow as a ruler or Coin? (submitted by Allison)

You can chat with other listeners throughout the live show by using our hashtag #HGFiresideChat on Twitter! We recommend TweetChat to easily follow along with the conversation.

I have a crackpot theory that seneca crane and johanna mason were romantically involved.I got this theory from a fan fiction I read on fanfiction.net I have been hooked ever since and I think it would be kool to hear what u guys think. 🙂

  • Tess says:

I have an interesting observation from the movie, and here it is:
The district 10 tribute girl DOESN’T DIE.
In the book she dies at the cornucopia. Katniss sees her image in the sky, thus confirming that Peeta is still alive. That means that eleven tributes have died at the cornucopia. A little while longer Peeta finishes off the girl from 8 so that makes 12.
However in the movie, the last tribute seen in the sky (after the first day) is a tribute from district 9 (I believe it’s the girl, but I”m not sure). The death of the girl from 8 makes 11 in the movie.
Her death was not mentioned throughout the movie. We see or hear about the other deaths, such as with the boy from 10 (which Rue mentions when Katniss awakes).
Did anyone else notice this in the movie? Am I just being weird? I was watching out for my district during the movie, and this is what I discovered. I think it was just an editing mistake or something.
But who knows? Maybe she escaped the system! Maybe she’s the real victor.

  • Tess says:

    Also another question for disscution:

Why are the tributes from 1, 2 and 4 careers and not 3?

  • Ysa says:

Who’s your dream cast for Catching Fire? Who do you want to be casted as Finnick, Johanna, Plutarch, etc.?
What if Haymitch and Plutarch were able to save both Peeta and Katniss from the arena?

  • Belle says:

What is the one scene in Catching Fire that you are the most excited to watch onscreen?

  • Andrew says:

How would the rebellion change if Peeta was the one saved from the arena and not Katniss?

  • Andrew says:

    Another Question:

What parts of Catching Fire do you think won’t make the cut for the movie?

  • annie browen says:

Alright I have a Crackpot Theory: Is Seneca Crane really against The Hunger Games, He saved Peeta and Katniss from Commiting suicide in the Arena after even after snow had the rules changed, He went against snow and save them, is it possible that Seneca was Sick of tributes dying year after year and wanted to take a stand against it and rebel in his own way.

I also have a Discussion topic/ Crackpot theory: Is it possible that snow was from a district and was at one point up for reaping and possibly competed and won the games himself. There is no possible way that snow has been president all 75 years of the hunger games exsistence. Some victors live in the capitol after they have won. he may have moved to the capitol, and given some special job and was later on appointed president. So basicly my question is how do you think snow became President and what was his life like before he was president.

Finally i have a What If question: What if Katniss died in The hunger Games and only Peeta survived do you think that madge and gale would have become a couple and peeta and delly would have become a couple or do you think they would both of been to heart broken to ever find love again?

I cant wait for the show im so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Emily says:

I have a crackpot theory: did Peeta’s father die still loving Katniss’ mother? We see how brutally mean Peeta’s mother is in the book, and especially how harsh she is to Katniss; is it possible she does this out of jealousy and bitterness, knowing that her husband has always loved someone else? Just food for thought.

  • Why do you think Peeta asked Haymitch to train him separately after the night when the training scores are announced? I was discussing this with a friend yesterday. Her theory was that Peeta thought that he would impair Katniss’ ability to win THG by training with her after he sees that she gets an eleven score and he gets an eight. I thought that maybe he pulls away in order to make an alliance with the Careers before going into the Games and convince them that his “being in love” is an angle. I can’t see there being time for Peeta to use his words to convince Careers in the first battle. What do you think?

  • Also, I found this little nugget in my last reading of THG. Pg 37 says that Peeta’s father is “not a very talkative man in the best of times, and today he has no words at all.” As we know, Peeta is good with words but he is attracted to his opposite, Katniss, who is NOT good with expressing her thoughts or feelings. For the first time, I thought that perhaps Peeta is not bothered by this with Katniss because he is used to it with his own father… a “still waters run deep” type of person. Despite Katniss never having had a conversation with Peeta before the Reaping, Peeta can see the good in Katniss, even qualities she can’t recognize in herself.

  • ysa says:

What do you think happened to Bonnie and Twill from District 8? Katniss said they never reached District 13. Do you think they died in the woods because of starvation or were they captured by the Capitol?

  • Tess says:

Hi I’m back. Also another disscution question:
Why is Katniss ‘the girl on fire’ but Peeta isn’t ‘the boy on fire’? He was on fire too!

  • stephanie says:

Twards the end of the mockingjay do u think gale turned out to be sort of evil like one of the gamemakers(not seneca) because after all he did come up with the idea for the trap with beetee and how to trick people into think somthing is good when it turns out to be bad aka the parachetes sent down on the capitol people and the rebel doctors that explopded. And sry about my spelling 🙂

  • WallyTsoni says:

Could Liam Hemsworth win a Hunger Games with all the other “Expandables 2” cast( excepting Chuck Norris, of course)
