#27 Fireside Chat: Battle of the ARGs Monday 03 October, 2011

“Battle of the ARGs”

Miss it live? Click here to listen, or use the embedded audio below.

Episode 27 of  Hunger Games Fireside Chat will air live on Monday, October 3, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts will include some of our fabulous friends from Down with the Capitol. We’ll also be joined by Crystal of Mockingjay.net and Fictional Food, Kait of Victor’s Village, Ariel of Nerdy, Wordy, and Almost Thirty, and Jenn of The Hunger Games Collab and Hunger Games Confessions.

Thanks to both Panem October and TheCapitol.PN, this fandom had one of its craziest weekends yet. And we can’t wait to talk about it! Our agenda for Episode 27 includes:

– Some exciting Buttercup-related news
– A complete breakdown of the Panem October launch as well as our thoughts on TheCapitol.PN
– A discussion of this CNN article and the reasons why it caused so many people in the fandom to groan in frustration
– A new segment, Survival Tips (tonight we’ll bring you Survival Tip #1: Pine Needles and Tree Bark)
– Another round of Pick a Page
– And, if we have time, another embarrassing round of Cave, Marry, Kill (featuring one of our most bizarre line-ups yet — thanks to listener Isabel for submitting it!)

We’d love for you to share your personal Panem October launch experiences with us, so feel free to do so in the comments below, on Twitter, or via email. If you’d also like to offer up some opinions on Panem October vs. TheCapitol.PN, you’re welcome to do that, too! We’ll try to read as many responses as we can on the air tonight.

You can chat with other listeners throughout the live show by using our hashtag #HGFiresideChat on Twitter! We recommend TweetChat to easily follow along with the conversation.

Im really enjoying listening to The Live panem Radio feature on Panemoctober.com and I like that we can add other characters from the book as well. For Captial.pn Im in district 9 so my district hasent been expedted yet so I can only log in really excited to see whats to come on that site.

  • Courtney says:

Seeing it’s first stage of launching was very impressive. The amount of social networking integrated into the site as well as needing to gain the appropriate amount of scans to achieve access to your district’s website is way more than what I expected at first launch. It’s interesting to see what this has become since those first threatening messages from “gamemakersanon” on Tumblr in March. I look forward to see what more things they have in store.

As for the PanemOctober vs CapitolPN, they are both shaping up to be fantastic experiences. We have yet to realize fully what the CapitolPN will be all about, but one thing is for sure: PanemOctober’s efforts and merely existing is causing the “official” ARG to step it up. It’s doing great things for Hunger Games fans all over the world.

And by “‘Gamemakersanon’ on Tumblr in March” I totally mean “‘Gamemakersanon’ on Tumblr in April”.

  • Abby M says:

I was really dissapointed when the site crashed. I waited an hour but was exhausted and went to sleep. However, the following morning, I had a good time on Panem October. I loved being able to add the remaining tributes, but the best part was discovering all my fellow District Seveners. It sort of feels like a family already. I see great potential for this game. This may sound creepy, but I’m quite excited for what will happen with the reaping. Was the game what I expected? No, but I still had fun with what I could at the times it was open. I look forward to the future.
