  • I heard Elizabeth Banks mention in an interview that she was looking forward to the Victory tour montage, so that makes me think that is the direction Francis Lawrence might take. I really really hope they include Peeta’s gift to District 11 and the conversation of Haymitch, Katniss, and Peeta after the shooting. I completely agree that it is important to development of Peeta’s character: we need to see that he 1) is not only kind but good with words and Katniss’ respect of him for that 2) his anger at feeling manipulated by Katniss and Haymitch 3) Katniss and Haymitch’s agreement to keep him in the loop – which they later break when they decide to keep Peeta alive this time in Quarter Quell. If we don’t know what promises they’ve made to Peeta, then the impact of their “betrayal” of him will not have the same emotional impact.

  • I also agree that we need to see enough of the Victors to “care” about them. That line of Katniss, “Peeta, how are we going to kill these people?” feels so important to me. We don’t want to have Katniss and Peeta de-humanized into James Bond unemotional killers… we want to feel our gut punched anew with the realization of what they must do to survive.
