9/6/13: Cool Stuff We Found This Week Friday 06 September, 2013

In honor of the release of “Atlas,” the first song from the Catching Fire soundtrack, we decided to make this week’s CSWFTW music-themed! Well, partially music-themed.

This first song, “The Crossing,” is an instrumental piece by Sam Yung. From his description on YouTube: “I uploaded an original piece based on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire a while ago called ‘Burn.’ I got so much positive feedback for it, and also it’s one of my favourite compositions and is a very special original piece to me. I decided to refine it by adding more instrumentation, and flesh it out some more. This piece is based on Catching Fire, and the confusion, turmoil and triumph that the characters go through, particularly Katniss and Peeta.”

This next song is simply called “Catching Fire,” and it’s by Sara Jørundland Berg. We absolutely love the song, and her music video is quite cool as well. You can almost imagine that she’s in District 12, what with the trees, hills, and snow on the ground. You can find the lyrics to Sara’s song in the description box for the video on YouTube.

Lastly, we wanted to share some unique collage-style fan art by deviantART artist maysillee. You can see that the first piece was inspired by one of the latest Catching Fire posters and the second by a still from the film. You can click on each image to see the full-size version and also check out the rest of maysillee’s art.
