4/5/13: Cool Stuff We Found This Week Friday 05 April, 2013

We didn’t post a new installment of CSWFTW last week due to the launch of our 100th Episode Celebration Giveaway and 100 Things to Do Before Catching Fire video, so we’re thrilled to be back with more cool stuff for you!

This week we’re featuring a complete mishmash of things we’ve found online over the last couple of weeks. We hope you enjoy!

First up is this rustic applique “Katniss” quilt from the marylandquilter Etsy shop. We love the story that the seller/creator invented to accompany this beautiful quilt:

Katniss and Peeta have just triumphantly returned to District 12 from their first Hunger Games. Some grateful residents donate fabric from dresses and clothing to make a quilt for the victorious survivors. Primrose designs the mockingjays to cavort on the top of the quilt. Her mother finds a beautiful rose print to adorn the sides. The finished design represents the rustic beauty of the people of District 12.

The quilt measures 70 x 91 inches and is being sold for $350. If you’re a quilter yourself, the pattern will also be available for sale soon.

Next, we have…hamburger buns from the Capitol McDonald’s!? These buns aren’t actually for sale, and the person who posted them claims they’re “only a joke,” but we’re starting to wonder if there may actually be a McDonald’s or two in Panem… Especially after Gamemaker Rowan referenced Mickey D’s in his interview on Episode 26.

(Seriously, though…do you think there’s fast food in the Capitol? Is it possible that McDonald’s will still exist hundreds and hundreds of years into the future?)

We found the following set of images on jenlawrence-queen’s Tumblr. We absolutely LOVE this because it does a beautiful job of illustrating some of the parallels we’re already beginning to see between Catching Fire and the first film.

Lastly, we have this incredible display of Photoshop magic that gives us a bit of an idea of what Katniss might look like while being interviewed in her wedding dress in Catching Fire:

You can click on the picture to see the full-size version. Doesn’t it look real? If it weren’t for Caesar’s hair, we might have been fooled! We’ve seen this image popping up everywhere and have absolutely no idea who originally created it. We found this copy of it on dimply-lovely’s Tumblr page. If you know who the original creator is, let us know!
