2/22/13: Cool Stuff We Found This Week Friday 22 February, 2013

This week it’s all about Johanna Mason!

Johanna is definitely one of the most popular characters from the Hunger Games trilogy, and there’s certainly no shortage of fan art dedicated to this feisty, sarcastic victor from District 7. We’ve noticed that most Johanna fan art tends to depict her wielding an axe — or two — in the heat of battle, so we thought it would be nice to showcase some pieces that feature other sides of her character.

Leave a comment letting us know which portrayal of Johanna is your favorite!

Hopefully they’ll keep this line in the movie!

How amazing is this? The artist has done a whole series of posters just like this featuring other characters like Haymitch, Peeta, Gale, Finnick, etc. Definitely go check them out!

Tracking Chip in the Left Arm by Broken-Endings
This is a scene that you don’t see illustrated too often! In fact, this is probably the first time we’ve ever seen this moment between Katniss and Johanna depicted in a piece of fan art. What do you think this scene will look like in the film?

We can’t wait to see Jena Malone-as-Johanna delivering this line onscreen!

We love the soft, airbrushed look of this portrait. Some may think this interpretation of Johanna isn’t “tough” enough, but this is much closer to Jena Malone’s look than the average piece of Johanna fan art. And after all…Johanna did win her Games by feigning weakness!

I really liked the version of Johanna by arohanuii. On her DeviantArt page, she makes the comment that Johanna is “A very tragic character in my opinion. ): ” and I think she portrays Johanna’s inner vulnerability very well. (It is something many fans overlook.) I also look forward to Jena Malone’s delivery of this line (or something similar to it) in the movie!
