2/15/13: Cool Stuff We Found This Week Friday 15 February, 2013
Since Valentine’s Day was yesterday, we thought it would be nice to dedicate this week’s installment of CSWFTW to one of the trilogy’s most beloved couples: Finnick and Annie.
We’ve pulled together some beautiful pieces of Finnick and Annie fan art as well as a fan-made video tribute to the pair. We hope you enjoy!
Click on each piece of art to view the full-size version on the artist’s deviantART page.
The First Moment Together by finnodair
The artist’s vision of Finnick and Annie’s first meeting:
Finnick had gone through the motions for the rest of the day’s festivities, as usual, like everything else. It had all become habit for him — the smiles, the pleasantries, the meaningless social exchanges. He cared for none of it. He retained a tight smile while he was introduced to the tributes, and in turn, they to him. He barely communicated that he had even heard any of it. Mags said hello first, and after a short silence, Finnick nodded to them as well. “Pleasure to meet you,” he said, in a rather low voice.

Can you believe this all came out of one person’s pencil? We love the expressions on their faces!
Indivisible by Muchacha10
This is an illustration of Finnick and Annie’s reunion in Mockingjay:
“Finnick!” Something between a shriek and a cry of joy. A lovely is somewhat bedraggled young woman–dark tangled hair, sea green eyes–runs toward us in nothing but a sheet. “Finnick!” And suddenly, it’s as if there’s no one in the world but these two, crashing through space to reach each other. They collide, enfold, lose their balance, and slam against a wall, where they stay. Clinging into one being. Indivisible.

Set in District 13, this is one of our all-time favorite pieces of Finnick and Annie fan art!
Finnick and Annie Wedding Sketch by finnodair
We couldn’t resist including another illustration by the incredibly talented finnodair! Surprisingly, we weren’t able to find a lot of fan art depicting Finnick and Annie’s wedding, so this sketch really stood out to us. Just think about how their wedding will look in the movie!
Lastly, we found an absolutely fantastic fan-made video tribute to Finnick and Annie set to the song “Never Let Me Go” by Florence and the Machine. Usually we don’t care too much for fan videos that include clips from other movies and actors who haven’t actually been cast as the characters they’re representing, but this is one exception! Seblainers has done an amazing job of piecing together a montage of Finnick and Annie’s relationship using snippets of various films featuring Sam Clafin and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey. We know Astrid will never be cast as Annie, but she’s been a popular “fan Annie” ever since Sam was cast, so we know this will thrill those of you who like to imagine her in the role!
Looking out from underneath,
Fractured moonlight on the sea
Reflections still look the same to me,
As before I went under.
