11/2/12: Cool Stuff We Found This Week Friday 02 November, 2012
November is here! By this time next year we’ll only be weeks away from the Catching Fire premiere. Woohoo!
So, what “Cool Stuff” did we find while roaming around the Internet this week?
To start, we have two YouTube videos. The first one is an incredible speed painting of Katniss that YouTube user Hatscholino uploaded back in February, before the release of the movie. The painting is based on this poster, and we can’t believe how photo-realistic it is! As of today, the video has been viewed over 10,000 times, and for good reason!
The second YouTube video is a Hunger Games rap battle — no doubt inspired by Epic Rap Battles of History — featuring Katniss, Peeta, and Gale. It’s been viewed over 83,000 times, yet we hadn’t heard about it at all (until now)!
I got a braid in my hair, got squirrels, and I’m sellin’ it
I can hunt better than the boys, but that’s irrelevant
Try to catch me tradin’ animals in the Hob
Takin’ people out like you is my secondhand job
Next up are some minimalist mini-posters from Scott Smith of Skahfee Portraits. We absolutely love Scott’s style, and at $4 each, these prints are a real bargain. His Caesar poster is shown below, but there are also posters for Peeta, Rue, Effie, Katniss, Snow, Haymitch, Cato, Cinna, and Gale (just click the links).
Lastly, we have some Hunger Games SOAPS for you all to try. Now that November is here, we think it’s perfectly acceptable to start making your holiday wish lists! 😉 This first soap is called “Hey, Catnip” and was inspired by the one and only Boy with the Snares, Gale Hawthorne.
Hey, Catnip – A fragrance inspired by Gale Hawthorne. Alder woodsmoke, a nighttime forest breeze, crunchy fallen leaves, and hints of toasted vanilla marshmallows. This is a swoon-worthy Autumn bonfire scent.
All of False Nostalgia’s soaps are handmade-from-scratch, which we think is pretty fantastic. “Hey, Catnip” is just $5 on Etsy.
We think this second soap is quite clever! It’s Nightlock Berry Soap from AJSweetSoap that has been designed to look exactly like the nightlock berries in the movie. Don’t worry — it’s not poisonous!
Our newest tribute to The Hunger Games consists of 30 jewel-toned blue berries, each varying in size as real berries would. Detailed to look like they were freshly picked from the Arena. Fragranced with our Goji Berry oil for a sweetly-tempting aroma.
As a bonus, the soap is vegan and only $6.50 on Etsy.
