9/21/12: Cool Stuff We Found This Week Friday 21 September, 2012

This has been such a slow news week! Fortunately, the Hunger Games fandom is an incredibly creative one, so we have no shortage of cool stuff to show you this week!

First up is a great step-by-step guide for creating your own Hunger Games shirt! This idea comes from Janice at Celebrating Family, and we love it so much we’ll probably try it out ourselves! All you need is a dark T-shirt, an X-Acto knife, freezer paper, a stencil, bleach, water, and a spray bottle! Click on the image to get all the instructions!

Thanks to Tumblr user GirlOnFireTVD, we found this incredibly stirring fan video by NikkiandHolly17. We love how the video is a character study that focuses completely on Katniss and her journey throughout all three books.

This next thing may only make sense to Divergent fans, so bear with us! Basically, for those that haven’t read it, Divergent is a dystopian novel set in a futuristic Chicago (most of which is in ruins). The city is completely surrounded by a fence and nobody knows what lies beyond it. On an old episode of the show, we joked that the outside world might actually be Panem, and that Chicago was simply isolated and believed to be uninhabited. Well, we found this fantastic/hilarious piece of fan art on Tumblr thanks to our friend Natasha (a.k.a. TFGeekGirl) that completely illustrates our Crackpot Theory! Major kudos to the artist, Brynne Shelton.

Lastly, if you’re a runner/athlete and live in or near the L.A. area, you might want to consider registering for The Hunger Runs! The Hunger Runs is a 5K adventure race featuring obstacles inspired by The Hunger Games — think fireballs, falling trees, and even archery challenges! The best part? Proceeds from the event will be donated directly to Food for the Hungry, a relief and development organization that works in over 25 countries. For more info, visit their website at HungerRuns.com and watch the promotional video below!

*If you decide to register, you can use the discount code HUNGERACTIVE and save 20% on registration fees. Plus, the first 100 organizations to register will receive a special FREE gift! The code expires on 10/31/12.*
