Panelist of the Week: Kait Tuesday 03 April, 2012
To help you all get to know our regular panelists a bit better, we’ll be spotlighting one (or two!) here each week!
This week, we’d like you to meet the sublimely sassy and snarkily sophisticated Kait, the creator and founder of Victor’s Village! Kait is, without a doubt, the funniest Hunger Games blogger that we know, so if — for some inexcusable reason — you aren’t yet a regular reader of Victor’s Village, what the heck are you waiting for!? Kait also co-founded TheFandom.net along with our very own Adam!
Which is your favorite book in the series?
Kait: I’ve always been a huge fan of Catching Fire, despite the fact that it seems to be most fans’ least favorite in the series. I love the refreshed look at the games, the introduction of former victors, and the serious political play throughout the story. Oh, and Mags. Badass grandmas FTW!
What do your friends and family think of your Hunger Games obsession?
Kait: My family and close friends know. They all enjoy the series and support Victor’s Village from a detached point-of-view, but I still suspect that somewhere deep down, they think I’m freaking insane.
Which district would you most like to live in?
Kait: I wouldn’t fit in very well in the Capitol, so I’d have to go with District 13. Sure, you never see the light of day and your whole day is scheduled out by a government run by Alma “Creepily Strict Lady” Coin, but at least there’s stability and a steady source of food!
Which Hunger Games character do you think you are most like?
Kait: I want to be Peeta, but I really don’t think I’m there yet. There’s a lot of patience and strategic learning skills that I just don’t have. I wish I could say I’m Johanna Mason, a seemingly sweet girl who turns out to be a killing machine and one tough biatch, but I’m more likely just that random chick from District 8 who gets killed at the Cornucopia.
Which two tributes (victors included) would you most want to ally with in the arena?
Kait: Beetee, because I truly believe that he could MacGyver his way out of ANYTHING. Finnick, because he’d seriously make up for what I lack in the ass-kicking department and if I die, at least I’ll die staring at a very pretty man!
If you could ask Suzanne Collins ONE question about the series, what would it be?
Kait: “Could you please tell me if a Gale/Madge or Gale/Johanna hookup happened anywhere other than my sweet fan fiction-y dreams?”
What are some of your interests outside of The Hunger Games?
Kait: At the risk of sounding like the world’s biggest loser, I have exactly zero special talents! I like the read and write a lot. I like going to the gym infrequently, eating unhealthy foods, hunting for houses and/or wedding venues I can’t afford, and occasionally sleeping eight hours a night. I am a victor, indeed!
