Panelist of the Week: Crystal Tuesday 21 February, 2012
To help you all get to know our regular panelists a bit better, we’ll be spotlighting one (or two!) here each week!
This week, we’d like you to meet Crystal, an admin at Mockingjay.net and the culinary genius behind FictionalFood.net. If you’re unfamiliar with Crystal’s delicious creations, go take a look (and just try not to drool)!
Crystal was kind enough to take some time out of her busy cooking schedule and answer a few of our burning questions:
Which is your favorite book in the series?
Crystal: The Hunger Games is still my favorite. I think when I first read through the series I blazed through them too fast, so I have to re-read them. I’ve only read Mockingjay once, but I’ve read THG three times and Catching Fire twice.
What do your friends and family think of your Hunger Games obsession?
Crystal: My husband completely lost faith in me after I made him go with me to see New Moon. Now he’s convinced that any young adult book I like is just as horrible, so he’s refused to read THG. He calls all of you my “Peeta pals.” My daughter will bring me anything Hunger Games-related from her J-14 magazines, excited to contribute.
Which district would you most like to live in?
Crystal: Having been born and raised in Hawaii, I’d feel most at home in District 4.
Which Hunger Games character do you think you are most like?
Crystal: That’s a really tough question. I can’t think of a particular character, but I know that I definitely would fit in more in the districts because I grew up on a farm (we grew flowers) and always felt like people around me were more privileged because I had to do manual labor from a very young age, but I still got to do easier tasks than workers because it was my dad’s farm. I’d probably fit right in with the merchant class in D11.
Which two tributes (victors included) would you most want to ally with in the arena?
Crystal: Definitely Katniss and Finnick! Katniss because of her sheer will to survive and Finnick because of his skills with the trident. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s in reach age-wise, haha! I skipped over Peeta because his priority would be Katniss. Sorry Peeta!
If you could ask Suzanne Collins ONE question about the series, what would it be?
Crystal: Everyone always asks her how she came up with the idea. I would love to know how she came up with the name “Hunger Games.”
What are some of your interests outside of The Hunger Games?
Crystal: I am a bento cookbook author, an administrator for a major computer gaming website, and I have an obsession with the Domokun character. If I walked into Hot Topic and saw a Domokun T-shirt next to a Hunger Games T-shirt, I’d choose the Domo one. That’s how bad it is!
