The most surprising moment for was the “beauty station” where the Tributes are made over after arriving to the Capitol. When I read the book I didn’t think I would like a hospital with those seperated areas but then again, I think it makes sense.

  • Alyssa says:

Hi! I’m from Trinidad and Tobago. Again, thanks for acknowledging you international fans 🙂 WHat surprised me most in the trailer was Seneca Crane’s beard. I know my answer is kinda lame but that was surprising to me. I just thought “oh how awesome is that!” when i saw it cus i didn’t really expect to see him in the first place but then they put him with this cool beard and I was like “ok this movie’s gonna be awesome!!” So i thought it was pretty cool how they made something out of a character that wasn’t even described in the book and i was honestly surprised and impressed. Oh and I was also surprised by the scene with the hovercraft too. I didn’t think they would have included it in the trailer. (I apologize if i wasn’t supposed to add in that sentence) 🙂

  • Mei says:

    Hi! Thanks for the contest!
The most surprising part of the trailer was the reaping. It was just like I imagined when I read the book.

  • JeN Bondoc says:

I was surprised at how advanced the training center was. While I was reading the book, i kind of pictured a gymnasium. Seeing them in the center was one of my favorite parts in the trailer. I live in the Philippines and I would love to win this copy :))

  • Shauni W says:

    I live in Belgium!

The most surprising moment for me was when we saw Effie. I thought they were going to tone down the Capitol’s weirdness but that made me more confident that they won’t.

  • Hugo says:

So, I’m spanish. And the best part of the trailer… difficult to choose, but, the part when Effie appears, and fist say “Welcome welcome, ah” and then when she goes to pick the first tribute. I love her.

  • I live in Sweden. What surprised me the most was how much Josh felt like Peeta. I’ve been a little concerned but now I totally believe in him!

  • Iris says:

I live in England, and the part that surprised me the most was probably how the Capitol looked like, I could never picture in my head what the Capitol looked like Collins tells you all how different it is compare to the other Districts and how the Capitol is on another league, and its surprises me how skillful the team behind this world; and this makes me excited for all the other scenes in Catching Fire and especially Mockingjay (if it all goes plan)

  • Jessica Garcia says:

WOW!!!! Thank you SO much!!!! Really I love The hunger games! This is a fantastic contest! I love each part of the trailer bcause I’m so excited to see this movie! But specially I love Peeta’s scenes. I’m from Argentina (South America) My name’s Jessica and my email is

  • Tanja says:

I wasn’t prepared to hate Cato already in this two minutes. The tributes are supposed to be innocent children- his performance shocked me, although I should have known what his charakter is capable of.
Thank you for this opportunity! I live in Germany.

  • Vicky says:

    I live in Canada.
I was surprised to see Katniss getting waxed, haha! 🙂

  • Alessio says:

Saying the best part of the trailer is the trailer itself is like saying nothing, of course, but the thing that surprised me the most is how the trailer looks so similar to how I imagined the world of Panem while reading it! It’s difficult, specially if we consider how raw and rough the books can be, so I was really surprised seeing the trailer so true and faithful to the original material. And I was so amazed by Elizabeth Banks as Effie as well! I’m reading the book again, so now I’m aware of the fact the description of her during the reaping is a bit different (the dress for example), Elizabeth is so remarkable and aside the dress, she nailed it. I honestly can’t think of an actress that can play Effie Trinket as good as Elizabeth Banks, and I’m trust her so much because I’ve seen a lot of her and she’s always amazing! Oh god, I’m talking too much xD And I almost forgot, writing from Italy here! And thanks for the opportunity 🙂 i’ll just put my email here in case it doesn’t show up in the field ( )

  • Olivia says:

I’m from Vienna, Austria and I was really surprised by how futuristic and science-fictiony the Capitol was. And I also loved the scene with Katniss and Cinna right before she was sent into the Arena, heartbreaking moment 🙁

  • Fine says:

    Hey guys 🙂
The most surprising moment was when Katniss volunteered. Well, sure, I knew it was going to be in the movie but I didn’t know it’d be that good! I totally believed Jennifer Lawrence and felt sorry for her.
    I live in Germany!
    Thanks for the contest =)

  • Lily says:

I’m from London, England, and i think i was surprised to see the rooftop scene with Peeta and Katniss! I wasn’t expecting them to put in such a pivotal scene but it worked so well 🙂

  • Angela says:

    I live in Canada! 🙂

The entire trailer surprised me – I didn’t expect it to be so amazing! If I had to pick a scene, I guess it would be the hovercraft. A lot of people are confused about it.. so am I! I guess maybe this transitions into the Avox girl? But I don’t know.

There’s a little part of the trailer I can’t figure out. During the training footage, there’s a shot of Katniss and what seems to be grass poking into the frame from below. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Gabriela says:

Thank you for this contest, opening the opportunity to the outside-Usa fans not only to win, but to show the love for The Hunger Games (:

I think the part that surprised me the most, was the moment when Katniss present herself as tribute, the way that Jennifer Lawrence’s voice make me tremble, has the exact proportion of emotion that the book gave me when I read it.

    Thank you.

  • Megan Strauss says:

Hey!!! My name is Megan, and I live in Gauteng, South Africa. I am a HUUUUGGGEEE Hunger Games fan!!! Its almost all I ever talk about (besides my future husband, Josh Hutcherson:)) I LOVED the trailer so much!!! It was perfect!!! What was a fun surprise for me was Effie’s accent XD. It was fantastic!!! I also loved the look of the Capitol, it wasn’t how I imagined it would be, but was great non the less. Being in South Africa, not many people know The Hunger Games in SA. But I’m teaching them!!! 😀 I really hope I win this contest!!! Wish me luck!!! And may the odds be EVER in MY favour!!! Xxxoooxxx thanks a lot!!! <3

  • Sandra says:

I live in Canada and Seneca’s beard was the most unexpected part of the trailer for me.

  • Emmanuelle Sarreau says:

Hi there! I’m from France. Well, the part of the new trailer which suprised me the most was Seneca Crane’s beard. I mean, I didn’t really imagine Seneca’s look so eccentric in my imagination, when I was reading the book. I had a rather fuzzy picture of him, I must admit. But here, this beard… God, she rules the world. So sophisticated, I’m in love with it.
Anyway, I think it’s the whole trailer who suprised me. I didn’t expected such a success. It gives me chills everytime I watch it, again and again…
And thank you to give us the opportunity to win this magazine. Indeed, it’s quite hard to find it in French newsagents.

  • Emily says:

    I live in Canada 🙂
One of the things that surprised me most was the four notes at the end of the trailer, which I’m assuming, are the ones that Katniss and Rue used to communicate safety. The entire book, i DIED because i didnt know WHAT i would sound like. It was a surprise because i imagined it a much.. happier tone. But even though its not what i expected, its still perfect. another thing that surprised me was the quality of it all. I mean, they ruined Twilight and Percy Jackson and I was really quite nervous to see this. But i was literally so astounded that i watched it at LEAST 15 times and cried at least twice.

  • Dayse says:

Gosh, I loved everything about the trailer, but I was realy amazed by the showing of Dictrict 12’s salute (with the three fingers held out). That was definetely something I wasn’t expecting to see, especially because I barely remembered it. It was great and moving (brought me to tears, but well, I was already a mess anyway).
    So yeah.
Great contest! I’m from Brazil. A place in the very middle of it, called Goiania 🙂

  • Sofia Rodriguez says:

Hi i live in venezuela; i loved the whole trailer and i think its EPIC i think one of the things that surprised me the most was the glimpse of the capitol and the training center it looks so cool and futuristic it was awesome and i really loved it!

  • Sammie Mellark says:

I live in Australia haha you replied to my tweet and O was like 😀 omg lol anywayz… Surprised me most in the trailer… Well 2 things actually, first- I imagined that the capitol and everything would be like rainbow but its all gray, of course I still love it! Hehe like the training centre and remake rooms are definitely not how I imagined, like the tributes are right mext to each other being prepped(thats how i saw it anyway) and in their training sesh surprised me how they had like, jumpsuit things on:/ lol the second thing is the cornucopia scene, i imagined it to be a lot bigger and the tributes not so close together…. Hopefully that was long enough to win

P.S. Next time you watch the trailer, Take note of how Peeta says Die in the rooftop bit, sooo amazing! Just like him! Hehe 🙂

  • Joanna says:

    Hello! I’m from Poland : )
What part of the trailer surprised me the most? Hm… I think that was the reaping scene. I was shocked how real and amazing it was. I really felt like Katniss when she screams ‘I voluteer. I volunteer as tribute’. It was really suprising scene (Effie’s hair and voice) but also heartbreaking (Prim’s yell, Katniss and Peeta looking at each other’s eyes) – the reaping scene surprised me ’cause it was so good and real!

I love the trailer and I can’t stop watching it and stop talking about it 🙂 My friends think now that I’m really crazy in positive way of course!

    Greetings from Warsaw, Poland!

  • Karen says:

The thing that surprised me the most was the hovercraft. It was a good surprise, because it’s something that’s for the fans, and the people who haven’t read the books won’t know what it’s there for.

  • Karen says:

Oh for the above comment… I’m from New Zealand.

  • Chris Salles says:

    Hey, Hunger Games lovers!

I’m from Brazil. The sunniest place in the world, Rio de Janeiro.
The part of the trailer that most surprised me was when the Pacifiers were taking Prim and suddenly Katniss shouted: “I volunteer. I volunteer as tribute”. This scene was so moving that gave me goose bumps and I almost cried. Of course I’v already read the book, but seeing Jeniffer Lawrence saying this quote was incredible. Katniss Everdeen came to life!

  • Dana Lukowski says:

I live in New Jersey. My favorite part of the trailer was the scene when Peeta and Katniss was all alone together. When i saw this part i cried. I felt this scene was sooo amazingly sentimental to the trailer and describes the pressure of the book too.

  • Diandra says:

Hello, I live in Indonesia 🙂 The trailer was amazing, probably one of the best. Gary Ross really did a marvelous job, he’s brilliant. But what part surprised me most? hmm.. let’s see, I guess it would have to be Seneca Crane’s beard! Haha, that is one beard he got there. I truthfully didn’t imagine him to have a beard, but there it is! What an artistic beard.
    Thank you!

  • Diandra says:

I’m from Indonesia. Gary Ross is brilliant! That was probably one of the best trailers I have ever seen, yet. The most surprising part? I have to say, it was Seneca Crane’s beard. HAHAHA I truthfully didn’t expect him to have a beard but there it is! That is one artistic beard, ladies and gentlemen.
    Thank you!

  • claudine says:

im from canada. the most surprising and intense part for me was when katniss got lifted from the tube to the arena….it was amazing and i thought that it was AMAZING and cant stand the fact that it is still about 4 months from now until the hunger games movie premiers!!! OMG i cant wait!! IT IS AMAZING!!!!!!

  • Anna Mikaela says:

Thanks for this contest! I’m from the Philippines. 😀

The most surprising part for me was when Katniss volunteered as tribute in place of her little sister Prim. I cried so much seeing that. Jennifer Lawrence’s acting in that moment was just incredible. You could feel the pain and misery of Katniss when she volunteered herself so that Prim would be saved. It was such a powerful scene. 🙂

  • Liezel says:

Hi, I’m a tribute from the Philippines! =]

The part that surprised me was how spacious the reaping area was. I always thought that it’s just like some part in the center of their village were everyone is cramped in circle. But anyways it’s still great. I was also surprised on the look of the people, everyone’s in gray. Maybe I just missed the part that it’s post apocalypse so it would be futuristic in a way. Plus the hovercraft and the tube excites me! =]

    Thanks in advance! =]

  • Patrice says:

    Hola! I’m from SINGAPORE 😀
The part which shocked me the most was the Capitol’s fashion. My gosh, BEARDS ARE EVERYWHERE.

  • Joanna says:

Hi and thanks from your neighbour, Canada! The part in the trailer that surprised me the most was the appearance of the hovercraft (being the oddball here). Are they including Lavinia in the first movie, or is the hovercraft for surveillance? Very curious and excited to see how they will explain it. But then of course, there’s also THE Beard of the century.

P.S. Would it be okay to include my email in the required box?

  • Celine says:

Hello. I’m from Philippines. The part that really did shocked me was when I saw Katniss on fire. It made my day, looking forward for the movie. I wanna see the girl who was on fire :<

  • Natalie says:

    I’m from Singapore!
I nevet expected the hovercraft to appear in the trailer! Non-fans may think that THG has aliens in it o.o

  • Shareen says:

I was surprised to see that the results of the reaping was shown in the trailer. Oh,I’m from Singapore too! :))

  • Bruna says:

I’m from São Paulo/Brazil. The part that most chocked me was when we saw Effie for the first time. OMG The make-up,the hair, the clothes…PERFECT! She looks AMAZING.

  • Hazel says:

Im from Singapore. The part that surprised me was when katniss was about to go to the arena and cinna was there. I thought he was about to get dragged away and get killed but he didnt and the part where they did a countdown.

  • Ariela says:

Hi I’m Ariela from the Philippines! 😀

What probably surprised me the most Seneca Crane’s beard. Like seriously, ’nuff said, his bread is pure awesome.

  • Rachel says:

I live in Canada!! The most surprising thing about the trailer was definitely Seneca Crane’s beard!! It was amazing!!!!! LoL I think everyone should have a bears like that!! I also was surprised that Effie did not say “may the odds be ever in your favor.” but all in all, a WONDERFUL trailer!! 😀

  • anjer bermejo says:

    hello i’m anjer from philippines..
the scene that surprised me a lot is in the reaping..I’ve read the book and imagining the scene while reading it..but when i saw the trailer, I almost stood from my seat when Katniss ran towards Prim, struggled to shove the peacekeepers and shouted “I volunteer! I volunteer as a tribute!” I saw the emotions and took my breath away! I’m thinking if I’m in her situation,I’ll do the same..

I really love hunger games and after I’ve read all the three books,I can’t wait until it becomes a movie and it did! When I watched the trailer, everything was exactly what’s in the book! I can’t wait to watch the movie! I’m so excited! I’m a big fan! I also have accounts in some hungergames website, like panem october and’m such an addict!sorry if I said to much..I just want to share..thank you 😀

  • Jasmine Gardner says:

I live in Australia!! Most shocking moment was the three finger salute, the effect it made within the trailer was epic and unforgettable 🙂 <3

  • Jennifer Lang says:

I’ll start off by saying I live in Canada.

What surprised me most of all was how militaristic, metallic, and angular the capital looked. When I read the books I always picture the buildings being as vibrant as the people. It just looks like it is built as a military base, which it may as well be for the tributes. However, I always pictured it as being the epitome of luxury. The different interpretation of the text really took me by surprise. The effect of that first sighting of the capitol was as amazing as it was shocking. Loved, loved, loved the trailer!!

  • Jack says:

    Hi from Australia!

I love Seneca Crane’s beard and everything about the trailer! I cried for ages!

  • Grace says:

My name is Grace J. Enojo ( and I’m from the Philippines.

The part of the trailer that surprised me the most was the last few seconds before the trailer ends. The part when all 24 tributes were about to race and fight it off for the items and weapons in the Cornucopia. Those first few seconds were just so thrilling and it captured the fear and apprehension of that moment, like this is it–all or nothing. I think those last few seconds are what will keep THG fans hanging on till May 23rd of next year 😉

  • Lia says:

My name is Lia, and I’m from Indonesia.
The part that surprised me was basically, everything. I was surprised how it looked exactly what I imagined when I read the book. I just, lost of words. I really really loved it, and I probably have watched it for 20 times.

  • adrian says:

hi! im from the philipines. and was really surprised with the reaping part especially the part where katniss screamed “i volunteer!” it was really effective and heart-wrenching
